The GWCT’s Head of Education and Advisor for Wales and Northwest England, Matt Goodall, was invited on Jeremy Vine’s BBC Radio 2 show on 17 October to explain why the ban on all types of snare in Wales could be bad news for wildlife in the country. He was up against Shahinoor Alom, League Against Cruel Sports’ Public Affairs Officer in Wales.

In the 33 years since joining the Trust in 1989, Andrew Hoodless has worked on key GWCT research projects which have gone on to influence policy and best practice. 

As I mentioned in Part 1 of this series of blogs, working as a research assistant at the GWCT gives me the opportunity to work on some incredibly exciting research. In early 2022 I joined the Trust’s Predation Control Studies team, where I am learning new skills from a range of new research challenges.

Jake Fiennes is the director of conservation at the Holkham Estate, which covers 25,000 acres in north Norfolk. The estate includes a nature reserve, which is visited by almost a million people a year, and a farming business that grows potatoes, sugar beet and barley. James Swyer met with him to find out more.
