The Guardian recently reported on a study by Dr Adam Pellegrini of Cambridge University that has highlighted that wildfires are impacting on the ability of forests to capture carbon due to changes in tree density and size. Given that trees are increasingly seen as a natural climate solution, the more we can understand the consequences of afforestation the better.

It’s that exciting time of year again when waders start to drift back to their breeding grounds. At Auchnerran, we noticed the first flock of about 40 lapwing on 20 February, which had quickly increased to almost 120 by the 23rd.

The Owl Box Initiative was born through funds awarded by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund. Project organisation and activities were set in motion at the end of last year with the purchase of 64 flat-packed barn owl nest boxes, to be distributed to farms across six farmers clusters in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.
