The GWCT Scottish Game Fair is looking forward to welcoming GWCT members and visitors from all over the world to experience one of the most exciting, diverse and atmospheric celebrations of the countryside and conservation.

Further to yesterday’s blog, Defra has now published GL43, the general licence that permits the release of gamebirds on or within a 500m buffer zone of certain protected sites in England.

While many spent their Bank Holiday relaxing with family, Dr Nick Hesford, a senior advisor for Scotland's Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT), set himself something more challenging. In under 48 hours, he hiked the 96-mile route along the West Highland Way to raise money for a local charity providing a vital service to families.

Defra wrote to GWCT yesterday afternoon (30^th May 2023) about GL43 - the General Licence which permits the release and management of gamebirds on and near European Protected sites which expired at 8.30 am today.
