Getting peatland and upland heath management right will be vital to ensuring our moorlands’ continued contribution to climate change mitigation and nature recovery.

As someone who has worked to research and conserve wild Atlantic salmon for over 30 years, GWCT Head of Fisheries Dylan Roberts is enraged, that both national and international governments have allowed our rivers to deteriorate into such a sad state.

On 30th May GWCT Newsround reported on a think piece by Hong Jiang a PhD student at York University which asked how we achieve the expansion of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECM) in line with the ambitions of COP15 and the new post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). The GBF commits to 23 action-orientated targets by 2030.

Our letter to The Guardian in response to Illegal bird of prey killings fall to lowest level in decade, but ‘true figure may be far higher’.

The small number of individuals committing these crimes undermine the reputation of the thousands of people doing wonderful work in our countryside, without whom we wouldn’t have the biodiversity, habitat, social cohesion and cultural traditions that so many of us cherish.
