The inaugural Agriculture Act to emerge from Wales has officially received Royal Assent. While the national headlines of the Act are about the proposed Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS), those in the gamekeeping and conservation communities have been dealt a huge blow with the banning of all snares, including the GWCT-devised humane cable restraint.

Owen Williams, wildlife artist and GWCT Wales Chair and Trustee, has received a prestigious conservation award for his work relating to woodcock conservation.

The third day of the 2023 Royal Welsh Show saw the official launch of the Curlew Connections Project, a project aiming to drive curlew recovery in Wales by working with conservation organisations, farmers, landowners and local communities.
