On 16 December 2019 Scottish Natural Heritage confirmed that the terms of the Scottish General Licences, which permit the taking of certain species for a variety of reasons, would remain unchanged from 2019 for the period 1 January 2020 – 31 March 2020.

After months of stakeholder engagement with Natural Resources Wales over General Licences, the Board decided on Thursday 19 September to support a proposal which the GWCT do not support.

One of the replacement General Licences, issued by Natural England in April to protect livestock, is facing a potential legal challenge (General Licence WML - GL26).
