I'm writing this with a critical mission - one that could determine the future of one of our most iconic species, the Wild Atlantic Salmon.
Over the past 40 years, the population of Wild Atlantic Salmon in our rivers has plummeted by 80%. If we don’t act now, these remarkable fish could vanish from our waters forever.
With your support, we can help ensure a future for Wild Atlantic Salmon.
The GWCT Salmon and Trout Research Centre is dedicated to uncovering the reasons behind this drastic decline in Wild Atlantic Salmon and finding solutions to reverse it.
Based on the River Frome in Dorset, our research focuses on every stage of the salmon’s lifecycle - from their early days in our rivers to their epic journeys to their feeding grounds in the North Atlantic.
However, our work is at a critical juncture. To continue our research and implement effective conservation measures, we urgently need to raise £20,000 for essential equipment, including PIT tags to track salmon, handheld readers, and other vital tools.
This equipment will allow us to gather the high-quality data needed to truly understand and address the challenges these fish face.
This is where you come in. Your donation could be the key to saving the Wild Atlantic Salmon. With your support, we can continue our vital research and take the necessary steps to ensure these magnificent creatures thrive once again.
Please, will you help us turn the tide? Every donation counts. Thank you.
