The annual GWCT Art Competition was celebrated in style at Fingask Castle in mid December. We had over 50 individuals come to celebrate their great talent. They enjoyed a day of rural activities including falconry, moorland demonstrations, an art workshop and enjoyed a feast of British game before being presented with their individual prizes.
Judges Mel Shand, Phil Mumby and Julian Jardine have been instrumental in the success of the competition along with RHET, RNCI and Angus CI, and the moorland groups who all produce excellent prizes in the form of experiences. Thank you also to all teachers and parents who bring out the creativity in the pupils and submit the artwork.
The competition is an important method of engaging young people with the countryside and encouraging interest and even passion in our wildlife, with the potential to encourage further engagement going forward.
