We brought the winning artists from the 2022 GWCT Schools Art Competition together this year at Fingask Castle, a fantastic venue. Winners came from three regions – Aberdeenshire, Angus, and Perth and Kinross – for a day of activities to celebrate their great talent and hard work. Pupils along with parents/guardians and teachers were invited to come and enjoy a day of falconry, art workshops, gundog displays and moorland group demonstrations including plucking, working sheep dogs, heather management and a beating line-up.
The day was greatly enjoyed by all. The weather just about held, and although a little chilly everyone made the most of the different activities but were well rewarded with a delicious Tex-Mex-style slow-cooked pulled venison meal cooked by Adam Newth from the Tayberry restaurant in Dundee.
The day ended with a prizegiving ceremony when Ross Macleod, Head of Policy Scotland, thanked everyone and announced the winners while Scottish Chairman Peter Misselbrook handed out prizes and certificates to all. It was a very happy event.
