With significant changes to spring (tunnel) trapping legislation due to be enforced following the passing by Scottish Parliament of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024, this new course is being prepared to an agreed standard by a Working Group led by NatureScot and requires to be approved by Scottish Government.
The new Act makes it illegal to use certain traps to kill or take a wild bird or mammal without a licence. To obtain a licence, all trap operators will be required to complete a Scottish Government approved training course regardless of whether or not they have attended a course in the past.
Successful candidates will receive a certificate that will enable them to apply for an individual ID number which must be attached to each trap when set.
The cost of a place on this half day course is £75 + VAT.
