New Agriculture and Conservation Officer appointed by GWCT Wales

Logan CrimpWe’d like to welcome Logan Crimp to the GWCT Wales Team as our brand new Agriculture and Conservation Officer. Logan is a fluent Welsh speaker and will be a great asset to the team.

Here’s a bit about Logan (in English and Welsh):

“I’ve grown up on a shooting estate on Anglesey as the son of a Gamekeeper. This gave me a strong background in game management and wildlife habitat restoration/improvement. While living on the estate I have also worked on other environmental projects such as tree planting, invasive species management and hedge planting/laying.

I graduated from Bangor University with a degree in Environmental Conservation, this strengthened my theoretical knowledge of environmental practices while also giving me a better understanding of how to deal with human-conservation conflicts. I enjoy being out in all weathers either shooting, beating or working my gun dogs.

My true passion is being able to work within countryside and ensure that there is a more resilient and sustainable future. That’s why I am very excited to be joining GWCT Cymru as the Agriculture and Conservation Officer.”

“Rwyf wedi fy magu ar ystâd saethu ar Ynys Môn yn fab i giper. Rhoddodd hyn gefndir cryf i mi mewn rheoli gemau ac adfer cynefinoedd bywyd gwyllt. Tra'n byw ar yr ystâd, rwyf hefyd wedi gweithio ar brosiectau amgylcheddol fel plannu coed, rheoli rhywogaethau ymledol a phlannu/gosod gwrychoedd.

Mae gennyf radd mewn Cadwraeth Amgylcheddol o Brifysgol Bangor, a chryfhaodd hyn fy ngwybodaeth ddamcaniaethol o arferion amgylcheddol tra hefyd yn rhoi gwell dealltwriaeth i mi o sut i ddelio â gwrthdaro rhwng pobl a chadwraeth.

Rwy'n mwynhau bod allan ym mhob tywydd naill ai'n saethu, curo neu weithio fy nghŵn gwn. Fy angerdd go iawn yw gallu gweithio yng nghefn gwlad a sicrhau bod dyfodol mwy gwydn a chynaliadwy. Dyna pam rwy'n gyffrous iawn i ymuno â GWCT Cymru fel y Swyddog Amaethyddiaeth a Chadwraeth.
