Discover our latest research
We will have research staff on hand to discuss their latest work, as well as having interactive displays showcasing some of the species that benefit from game and wildlife management.
Several of our game and biodiversity advisors will also be available to offer industry-leading advice on a wide range of topics – such as agri-environment schemes, natural capital assessments, wildlife surveys, and all aspects of game management.
We will have a range of prominent Trust publications available, and will be spotlighting two new documents – our updated ‘Managing for More’ predation management think piece, and our guide to Insect-Rich Farmland Habitats.
Hear from our experts
We are pleased to announce we have three talks scheduled, which are not to be missed. Curious about woodcock, what a new government means for gamebird releasing, or how land managers are the key to nature recovery? Head to the Carter Jonas Game Fair Theatre on Friday 26 July to find out more direct from GWCT experts.

12:50pm - 1:10pm |
Should we shoot woodcock or not? Dr Andrew Hoodless, GWCT Director of Research, talks about the recent woodcock survey and its implications for shooting and habitat management. |
2:00pm - 2:20pm |
It's all about impressing the Labour government with our best practice. Sir Jim Paice, GWCT Chairman, and Dr Roger Draycott, Director of Advisory, discuss the biodiversity benefits of gamebird releasing, provided best practice is followed. |
3:40pm - 4:00pm |
How the land management sector can make nature recovery happen. The government spends huge sums of money via conservation industry bodies to support nature recovery, but is there another way? Teresa Dent, CEO of GWCT, says there is potential for the land management sector to deliver against national government targets by working collaboratively at scale. Land managers know what they are doing and should be able to show they can achieve value for money results. |
Take part and enjoy – something for our younger visitors
Nico Venables, the star of our ‘Artistry in Motion - Pioneering Curlew Marionette Project’ film, will be in attendance on Saturday 27 July offering a curlew chick puppet-making workshop and showcasing his curlew marionette puppet ‘Debbie’. Come along and make your own curlew chick and learn about the conservation work and research we are doing to help curlew.
