The Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024 is a crucial step in ensuring the ethical and effective management of wildlife in Scotland. By enrolling in an approved training course, you’re not just complying with the law—you’re also contributing to the preservation of Scotland’s rich biodiversity.

Farm safety is crucial, and Lantra has made it easier for farmers to access vital training by offering their comprehensive e-learning course for free. This initiative comes in response to alarming statistics showing high numbers of fatalities and serious injuries in the farming industry.

Starting 4th July, new regulations are coming into effect for gamekeepers using second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). These updates mean SGARs can no longer be used in open areas and must be applied only near buildings.

Releasing red-legged partridges can be both rewarding and frustrating with many shoots deciding to release a handful (circa 100-200) on the farm to add a little extra on shoot days. But often these additions achieve abysmal returns – around 10% for the time, effort and expense of releasing.
