Coming to the end of 2024 and looking forward to 2025 it is safe to say that just shy of £15,000 had been raised for the GWCT through the HOLTS Charity Lots Programme this year.
HOLTS continue to prove that the value of sporting and antique guns is still high if not increasing on the worldwide market, boosting UK prices!
HOLTS December live auction has now finished with outstanding results, 90% of lots sold on the hammer, achieving close to £1.45 million! This should exceed £2 million once the results of the Sealed Bid auction are announced. The trends from the all the 2023 and 2024 auctions certainly indicate an increase in value of all good quality guns, from modern shotguns and rifles to antique and collectable pieces.
Included in the next section of the auction will be more lots sold on behalf of GWCT supporters to benefit GWCT funds.
Lot 695, A cased pair of J. B. Ronge, (Liege) deluxe 12mm percussion target pistols, circa 1845, with blued octagonal 10 1/4in. rifled barrels. This pair, which were cased with their original deluxe accessories sold for £10,000 against an estimate of £7000 - £9000!
Lot 728, A .32-40 (W&B) Winchester model 1894 lever-action carbine, still with it’s special carbine rear sight and saddle ring on the receiver. Even with its ironwork well re-blued, it still achieved a very healthy £2400 against an estimate of £1,000-1,500
HOLTS are now accepting consignments for their next auctions with valuation days throughout the country. The next local one at GWCT HQ in Fordingbridge will be on Tuesday the 7th of January. For a full list of HOLTS valuation days or to book an appointment at one of them please see here.
