£12,500 raised for the GWCT in Holts spring sales!

Holts Gun

Thanks to the generosity of GWCT supporters and the HOLTS Auctioneers Charity and Legacy Programme another £12,500 was raised for the GWCT over the HOLTS March / April sale cycle. As well as raising funds for the GWCT, HOLTS have had another incredibly successful sale cycle, achieving just on £2 million, selling 90% of the live auction on the hammer! The international market for antique and modern guns is still incredibly buoyant with the USA accounting for 31% of lots sold in the live auction and Europe plus the rest of the world responsible for a further 17%!

As well as fine sporting shot guns the antique and unique market is another area showing unprecedented growth one exceptional example and one of the stars of the show was lot 1556 a rare Charles Lancaster 20-Bore Four Barrelled Shot Gun made, circa 1885 which generated much interested and some intense bidding, eventually selling for £17,000 Another fantastic result for a more modern shot gun was lot 1509, a Westley Richards & Co .410 Boxlock ejector that sold for a very satisfying hammer price of £2,600 against an estimate of £800-1,200
