Valuation days are a great opportunity for those interested in firearms, whether you're a seasoned collector or a novice enthusiast. It's a chance to learn more about your firearm, its history and current market value from knowledgeable professionals in the field. The upcoming valuation day at GWCT’s Hampshire HQ, hosted by HOLTS Auctioneers on Wednesday 26th April is an event not to be missed.

The recent HOLTS auctions have shown that the passion for firearms in the UK remains strong, with almost 90% of all lots being sold, and more than half of both auctions being sold to British buyers. The market for antique firearms is buoyant, as it has been for a number of years, and there is renewed interest in both classic and modern air rifles. The most famous names in the industry, continue to command strong prices with Boss, McKay Brown, Purdey, and Rigby attracting the most interest and money. It was also heartening to see good examples of less well-known names also attracting a flurry of bids, with a fine Horsley 28-bore sidelock ejector and a fine pair of W. J. Jeffery sidelock ejectors exceeding their top estimates.

Valuation days are not only an opportunity to learn more about your firearm, but they also offer the chance to support a great cause. Guns sold on behalf of GWCT supporters at HOLTS auctions have consistently exceeded their estimates, raising around £2000 and more items are being catalogued for the summer auction. If you have any guns or related items that are now surplus to requirements and you would like the GWCT to benefit from their value at no cost, via the Holts Charitable & Legacy Lots Programme, please contact David Thurgood on 01297 306 123 or email westcountry@holtsauctioneers.com.

The Holts staff hosting the valuation day will be able to provide a realistic catalogue estimate and reserve for your item, as well as a likely hammer price if you are interested in selling. They are also interested in hearing about any family or related provenance, as this can have a highly beneficial impact on the value of the firearm.

Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn more about your firearm, support a great cause, and potentially sell your item at auction. Attend the HOLTS valuation day at GWCT head office on Wednesday 26th April and discover the true value of your firearm. If you’re not in the area, HOLTS is also running valuation days across the country. You can find out more here.
