What will your legacy be?

Writing a will is never easy. Thinking about what you might like to happen when you’re not around is a difficult thought process and, of course, your mind instantly turns to making sure that those you love have a secure future.

As a supporter of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust – have you ever considered a gift to support the countryside you love as well?

As you know, our work can be seen throughout the fields, farms and moors of Britain and you can make these places thrive for generations to come.

No other organisation has the same relationship with those working on the ground delivering real change and we are grateful for your support. If you chose to leave us a gift, we promise to respect your privacy and that we will use the gift to ensure we deliver our charitable aims. If you let us know, you’ll also be invited to events to recognise your commitment.

Gifts in wills are increasingly common in the UK with around 15% of people leaving something to charity in 2021. Legacies make up around 1% of our income, whereas for many larger charities it can be as much as two-thirds of their annual revenue. If you would like to join the small but loyal selection of GWCT members and supporters who have chosen to leave us a gift, please complete the form below to either download our free guide to find out more or to request a copy in the post.

Earlier this year I contacted many of those who told us they are leaving a gift, asking them why they did. Their answers gave me real hope for our countryside.

One of them, John, told me: “I consider it is right and proper to put something back so that others may enjoy sports in the future. With this in mind, I feel that the GWCT is the only organisation that will positively help.” Another, David, said “I am leaving a gift as a thank you to the GWCT for providing the independent data to Government and other bodies to support shooting and fishing and all the benefits it brings to the countryside and wildlife itself. I hope it will be a small help that it will continue into the future.

If you can leave a gift of any size, thank you. It means we can look forward and invest in our research so that those who can improve the situation in our countryside – gamekeepers, farmers, landowners, communities and politicians – have the power to do so. If we can inform the debate with reasoned fact rather than emotion, they can be free to put those findings into practice.
