The Bro Cors Caron SMS project held a well-attended event at Cruglas Farm on Friday 23rd September, showcasing the progress of the project to a variety of stakeholders and interested individuals. The event included a constructive panel discussion with James Owen (Welsh Government), Gareth Parry (FUW), Chris Thomas (4 Rivers 4 Life Project) and Owen Williams (Bro Cros Caron Steering Group and GWCT Wales) regarding the future Sustainable Farming Scheme in Wales.
Numerous topics were discussed including livestock farming, trees and hedgerows, carbon storage and Welsh communities and heritage. This was followed by a guided walk by Terry Mills around Cruglas, a working mixed livestock farm bordering the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve which has also become a wildlife haven thanks to conservation measures put in place by Mr. Mills, including habitat creation, supplementary feeding and predation control. To finish, all visitors were invited for light refreshments and to watch drone footage of the Bro Cors Caron SMS project area, showcasing the landscape-scale work underway in this Farmer Cluster.
