The Chief Veterinary Officer for Wales has confirmed an outbreak of H5N8 Bird Flu (pathogenicity to be confirmed) on a gamebird establishment near Amlwch, Anglesey.
Control Zones of 3km and 10km around the infected premises have been established restricting all bird movements and all birds on the infected site will be culled. This is the first outbreak in kept gamebirds in the UK, and acts as a stark reminder for all gamebird establishments in Wales to comply with the requirements set within the Avian Influenza Protection Zone currently in force across Wales – see here for more information.
For a map of the temporary control zones in place on Anglesey, and details of the measures in place as of 21:00 on the 27th January please see the declaration from Welsh Government here.
