As charities look to gauge support for the reintroduction of lynx to Scotland, there is clearly some appetite for it in some circles (New plan to introduce lynx to Scotland after 1000 years will help save forests, 20 January).
In recent years, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust has polled almost 10,000 people on both sides of the border to understand their views, with 68% in support of lynx reintroduction. If this remarkable species is given a new lease of life in Scotland, those responsible must be careful to ensure landowners and farmers do not lose out.
