The RSPB supported the reintroduction of red kites, from Europe, after it became clear that protecting the remaining nests, from egg collectors, was not working well enough. Despite this fantastic success story, it’s bizarre that they do not support similar plans by the Government for the reintroduction of hen harriers. In contrast, we welcome Defra’s commitment to consistency and a willingness to copy previous success stories by reintroducing harriers to southern England next year.
