With summer now over there is much work to be done on your shoot...
1. Hungry gap feeding
Carry on feeding game and songbirds right through the hungry gap until the spring flush takes place.
2. Move feed hoppers
Move feed hoppers a few yards on to fresh ground every time you fill them to avoid exposing birds to parasites.
3. Create open areas
Now is a good time to think about woodland management. Consider opening areas up to create sunny spots and help boost the shrub layer.
4. Identify disease issues
If your wild game is performing poorly consider sending faecal samples for analysis to identify disease issues before breeding starts.
5. Remove shoot debris
Be sure to remove decaying or unused shoot debris. This important work gives a better image to game management and shooting and helps keep our countryside in good condition.
