Advisory & Education

  • Trained 14 delegates in Muirburn and Lamping
  • Trained 96 delegates in use of professional rodenticides (with help from Austin from our Advisory team – thank you!)
  • Undertook 3 advisory visits in SW Scotland
  • Trained 25 delegates in Corvid Control & Tunnel Trapping
  • Secured dates for April schools visits to Whitburgh and Balgonie

Policy & Research

  • Hosted CNPA visit to Auchnerran - our demonstration farm
  • Attended SRUC and SEPA Biennial Conference
  • Responded to EU CAP consultation
  • Responded to SNH Pollinator Strategy Consultation
  • Attended Muirburn Code meeting to review draft structure
  • Took part in CAP Stakeholders Group concall
  • Attended Leadership Event by invitation of Richard Lochhead MSP, RAFE Cabinet Secretary
  • Attended Scottish Biodiversity Conference
  • Secured EU funding for laser fencing at Auchnerran
  • Hosted Moredun visit to Auchnerran
  • Welcomed Marlies Nicolai to Auchnerran as our new research assistant
  • Began teaching ‘Biodiversity and Sustainability in World Agriculture’ at Dundee University
  • Started catching grey partridge at night to fit radio-tags, to investigate habitat use and mortality

Fundraising & Events

  • Co-hosted Auchnerran fundraiser in London
  • Scottish Game Fair team participated in training exercise with Emergency Services
  • Raised over £30,000 at Glasgow Auction
  • Attended Jorie Grassie jewellery launch at Hamilton & Inches

Communications

  • Introduced GWCT HQ Communications team to Langholm, Auchnerran and SHQ & SGF teams
  • PR underway for Golden Plover Award with Heather Trust and Lindsays
  • Article for Land Business finalised
  • Article on Balgonie submitted to Scottish Sporting Gazette
  • BBC Scotland Out of Doors broadcast feature on Auchnerran on 12 March
  • Met with Simon Thorp, the Heather Trust
