By Roger Draycott, GWCT Head of Advisory
The GWCT Advisory Service provides technical help and support to farms and shoots on a wide range of subjects from woodland management, to feeding regimes to improving habitats for wild pollinators.
One area where we are often asked to assist is on matters relating to the financial management and performance of shoots. The Savills/GWCT Shoot Benchmarking Survey, which has been running since 2009, provides all the information shoots need to compare their shoot’s figures with similar sized shoots across the country.
How much does the average beatkeeper get paid?
How much should I be paying for poults?
How much should I set-aside for vet and medical bills?
These are all questions which are vital for the successful running of any shoot. The more shoots that participate the more valuable the data.
All shoots which contribute to this confidential survey receive a detailed benchmarking report which compares their shoot with benchmarks only available to participants and against figures for small, medium and large shoots.
The survey can be completed either online or downloaded and returned by post. But please hurry, deadline for submitting completed forms is 22nd April!
