The month kicks off with a fascinating lecture on the Battle of Agincourt, hosted at Taunton Racecourse on Tuesday 1st September. After drinks and canapés the evening will conclude with the winner of the Somerset ‘Draw for Four’ shoot raffle announced. There are only a handful of tickets now remaining for this event.
On the same evening in Dorset we’ll be hosting an informative walk and barbecue on the River Piddle at Trigon Estate in Wareham.
Wednesday 9th September sees Lodge Farm, winners of the 2014 East Anglian Partridge Group Trophy host a meeting where Roger Draycott, our Head of Advisory (and recent Countryfile star!) will be sharing what we are doing to help the survival of the grey partridge.
A three-day part time gamekeepers course will be taking place at our Allerton Project farm in Loddington from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th September. Our Advisory team will be delivering practical advice and guidance on game management and demonstrating these techniques in action, both at Loddington and at a nearby shoot.
On Friday 18h September we’ll be hosting a clay shoot day at the beautiful Glemham Hall in Suffolk. Two days later we’ll be doing the same thing at Bisley Braidwood in Selkirk, where a packed morning's shooting will be followed by lunch, presentations and a raffle.
At Pall Mall on Wednesday 23rd September Andy Malcolm, the gamekeeper who swapped the Scottish moors for the Kalahari Deser will be delivering a talk on his new life as a game warden. The evening starts with drinks and canapés and concludes with a sporting auction.
Throughout September we’ll be running one-day courses that will enable gamekeepers to go on controlling rats using professional rodenticides after a Health and Safety Executive deadline of 1 July 2016. This new course will include the necessary certifications for successful candidates and we’ll be hosting days in Hampshire, Norfolk, Berwickshire and West Lothian.
